Healthcare and software -- I guess you could say it’s in our genes. Like many home care companies, we owe our start to family. It began with our father who was a pioneer in health care technology. For nearly 40 years he was responsible for development and implementation of hospital software systems at Shared Medical Systems/Siemens. As children, we were exposed to the mysteries of giant mainframes, green bar paper and printers the size of small trucks.

This early fascination provided the inspiration for education and career choices made by my sister and me. Our journeys began on separate paths. Linda earned a degree in Health Care Administration and began her career with a large national home care organization, first as a scheduling coordinator and then advancing to a regional management position. In 1988 she and her partners formed FirstChoice Health Care Services. Over the next eight years the company grew to five locations with office and direct care staff in excess of 800, providing private pay, Medicaid and Medicare services. After obtaining a degree in Computer Science, I worked as a programmer at General Electric for six years developing systems and then as an IT consultant helping government agencies select Police, Fire, dispatch and reporting systems. In 1993 our career paths converged when I joined FirstChoice as the Director of Information Technology, charged with building departmental applications and managing existing systems (and their vendors). By the late 90’s, FirstChoice had been sold to a large health care developer and Linda and I were attending trade shows as a vendor rather than as a provider. We knew there was a market for an affordable, easy-to-use system, backed by a team committed to fanatical customer support.

Today, our team supports over 300 installed Visitrax client sites in 28 states and Stratis is well positioned for future expansion. After four years in development, Soneto, our next generation product has grabbed the attention of industry leaders. In March 2007, Soneto was selected by the largest non-medical home care organization in the world to replace its proprietary system in over 600 North American locations. In September 2007, Soneto was selected by an expanding Medicare organization for over 45 locations in the U.S. to replace Visitrax. These two relationships represent what is exciting about Stratis today. First, our commitment to top-notch support and new product development is manifest in the decision by a long-term client to sign on for the future.
